Topic: An hour with David Hill

Topic type:

David Hill led an exciting and thoroughly entertaining talk about his writng and his books on Wednesday 20th July at the Hillcrest Library.

With enthusiasm and a great sense of humour David Hill entertained children and adults alike at Hillcrest during the first week of the holidays with his talk of his books, how he got into writing and his reading of a few of his short stories. His stories were funny, captivating and delighted all that were listening.  David also gave advice to the aspiring young writers in the audience about how he writes and some tips on how to start. His advice of carrying around a notebook and writing down everday events to draw inspiration fascinated the children I believe they were going to try out his tips.

David Hill has written numerous books, short stories and is a respected journalist. David told his rapt audience how he didn't start out to write for children and young adults but that it just happened when inspiration struck and he enjoyed having his characters develope.

If you ever get a chance to see David Hill at any event I recommend attending David makes his characters real and listening to him talk was the most fun I had that week. He is an inspirational writer and his books should definately find a place into your home.
