The 2010 Diwali function organised by Indian Cultural Society was held on 24th October at the the Founders Theatre. New Hamilton Mayor Julie Hardakar was the chief guest.

Classical dance at Diwali 2010 The 2010 Diwali function organised by Indian Cultural Society was held on 24th October at the  the Founders Theatre. It was fun-filled evening  of music, dance, food, and culture extravaganza.This annual event offers a unique opportunity to celebrate and explore India's diverse culture and traditions, including authentic regional food, arts, and entertainment. It has become an eagerly anticipated annual event attended by wide spread New Zealand communities .An audience of around 1500 people attended the function. All were impressed by the  great hospitality and display of Indian culture put forward by the Indian Cultural Society Waikato Inc,

A very extensive cultural program consisting of classical and modern Indian  Giddha dance at Diwali 2010 dance performances, as well as East-West fusion dance and music.was presented to the audience consisting of various politicians and community Leaders including the new Hamilton Mayor Julia Hardekar who was the chief guest . A documentary gave western audience an elaborated picture about the legend of Diwali and Indian hospitality as well.

ICSW Committee with Diane YatesEntertainments group from Auckland  such as V4U and Monisha Dance Group  had the audience spell bound with dances based on popular Bollywood Music  and dance.

The dance groups from Hamilton such as KalaNiketan  too presented some excellent semi classical dance performances.Bangra and Giddha by the girls and boys of the Waikato Cultural Society , especially by the youngsters as small as 4 yrs charmed the audience. 


Fashion Show at Diwali 2010



This was followed a scintillating fashion show featuring gorgeous Indian sarees

 Guests were served sweets at Diwali 2010


As food and sweets are unavoidable part of Diwali, food packets with sumptious Indian snacks  and sweets was served to all attendees.The Indian Cultural Society fulfilled their promise of providing a superior quality entertainment to the Hamilton Community.  The Secretary Roy Vellara welcomed everyone and Vice President Paul Bains did the Vote of Thanks.
