Topic: Claudelands Road

Topic type:

Claudelands Road was named in 1964.

Claudelands Road between Grey Street and Victoria Street did not exist until 1968. Work began on the road in 1966. After the lowering of the railway line, the old railway bridge was converted to a road and pedestrian traffic bridge which, along with the Claudelands Road extension, was opened in early October, 1968. Until 1964, the part of Claudelands Road between Grey St and the Hamilton Cosmopolitan Club was called Station Road.
