Alison Street was named in 1948 after Alison Gower the daughter of G.W. Gower who fought in the mid-east war.

Alison Street is a Crown Land Grant, named by Hamilton City Council in 1948.  (Land & Surveys) The area was settled by ex-servicemen.  The street was named after Alison Gower, the daughter of G.W. Gower who fought in the mid-east war in 1945-46. (HCC) (HCL)
