Topic: Rhode Street

Topic type:

There is no documentary evidence to indicate why this street was named - possibly it was after a Greek Goddess.

Rhode Street

Rhode Street was named in 1912.  The landowner was W.S.Higgins esq. (Lands and Survey Dept.)

"Rhode" or "Rhodas" in Greek mythology was the Goddess of the Greek island "Rhodes".  However, there is no evidence to support that this is how the street got its name. (Eurobaz)

Rhode Street is between Blackburn Street and Paterson Street in the suburb of Dinsdale. Rhode Street Park and Rhode Street School are situated there.
