Tamihana Avenue was named after Wiremu Tamihana.

Tamihana Avenue

Tamihana Avenue is located in the Hamilton, New Zealand suburb of Fairfield.  Originally it extended form Casey Avenue only to what is now the end of Riverview Terrace. Beyond that intersection down to River Road was Flo Street. Flo St changed to Tamihana after the formation of Riverview Terrace in 1954. It was named in 1937 by Andrew Casey, the owner of the property.  It is named after Wiremu Tamihana, a Maori chief.  (HCC) (HCL) (Lands & Surveys)
