Topic: Hendon Road
Hendon Road was named after the World War Two RAF aerodrome Middlesex.
Hendon Road is located in Hamilton, New Zealand, in a small group of streets including Northolt Road, Caistor Street and Reeves Close. The group is south of Powells Road which separates them from Fairview Downs - they are not a part of Fairview Downs which was developed and named by another firm under the ownership of Alf Steele. Hendon Road was named in 1962 by D.M. McKenzie, the owner of the property and developer of the subdivision. He named it after RAF Hendon a WW2 aerodrome in Hillingdon, Middlesex (now part of London), England where he served with distinction during the war in the Metropolitan Communications Squadron.
