There is no documentary evidence to indicate why this street was named Greenwood Street.

Greenwood Street is located in the Hamilton, New Zealand suburb of Frankton.  Prior to the ringroad development of the 1970s Greenwood Street ran only from Massey Street to Killarney Road. In the major redevelopment of the 1970s it was extended to Kahikatea Drive. The original part was named in 1907 by John McCarthy, the owner of the property.  There is no documentary evidence to indicate why this street was named Greenwood Street.  (HCC) (HCL) (Lands & Surveys)
