Digitised images from Hamilton's past

Check out some great shots from times past - both the Historical events and the everyday moments - see Hamilton as it was with selected images from the thousands held in the Information & Heritage historic photographs collection at Hamilton City Libraries.

There are photographs of the devastation caused by the Frankton Tornado, paddle steamers on the Waikato River and lots, lots more, all at the click of a mouse. And if that is not enough there are another 13,000 photographs waiting to be viewed on Level 3 of the Garden Place Library.....

...but wait, there's more coming here too! New images are picked & uploaded for you to preview as more of our images are digitised - so keep checking back for more new (old!) pictures!

We have made every effort to contact copyright holders and owners, but if you have any concerns, or if you have any further information about any of the items, please let us know.

The Hamilton City Libraries Historic Photographs collection would not exist without the many generous lenders and donors that have contributed. If you have material that you would like to donate or lend to us so that we can copy it, please contact us or visit the Heritage department on Level 3 of the Garden Place library.
